After the all-star tribute performances from SZA, Doechii, Queen Latifah and more, Lauryn Hill stunned the BET Awards audience by taking the stage herself. Her surprise performance of “Ex-Factor” served as the emotional climax of the tribute before she accepted the inaugural Living Legend Icon Award.

I don’t think anyone has managed to sell these Saint Laurent Spring 2026 ruffled gowns to you. Not Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, not Zoe Kravitz, and, honestly, I don’t hold out much hope that Lauryn Hill will change your mind either.

Surprisingly, I like the colour. I don’t think I would have said that based on the runway look, but it translated much better on stage, no doubt thanks to the lighting.

I also appreciated the styling. The belt helped rein in some of the overwhelming volume, while the statement jewellery and wraparound sunglasses made the look feel distinctly hers.

Even with those changes, though, I still think these gowns are an incredibly hard sell. If I had to rank the three outings, Lauryn’s would come out on top, but I’m still not convinced this design is destined to become a red carpet success.
